The name 'Ezharakund' translates to “seven-and-a-half pits” in Malayalam, referring to a series of seven natural rock pools formed at various levels, creating a cascading waterfall effect that is both unique and mesmerizing.

The highlight of this destination is the stacked pool formation, where water flows from one rocky basin into another, resembling kettles placed one above the other. These pools are active throughout the year and are a rare geological wonder in Kerala.
To reach the falls, visitors must trek about 2 km from the Chathamala Facility Centre. The trek is shaded and scenic, making it comfortable even during sunny hours. However, caution is advised as there are deep crevices and sharp drops—stick to the designated paths and follow safety signs.

Ezharakund is located around 50 km from Kannur town. The nearest railway station is in Kannur, and the closest airport is Kannur International Airport (approx. 60 km). From Kannur, taxis or buses to Paithalmala/Chathamala can be taken, followed by a short trek.
