Payyanur Sree Subramanya Swami Temple, over 1000 years old, is renowned for its ancient rituals, unique architecture, and the sacred Pavitra Mothiram tradition.

Renowned for its unique architectural features, the temple’s sanctum sanctorum is two storeys high and designed in the distinctive Gajaprishtam style, resembling the back of an elephant. A striking 6-foot tall idol of Lord Subramanya presides as the main deity, while the temple is enclosed by an impressive 12-foot tall compound wall built in an uncommon architectural manner.
The temple is also well known for the Pavitra Mothiram, a sacred ring made of gold and darbha grass. Crafted only on order, the ring is sanctified within the temple premises before being worn, making it a spiritually significant symbol for devotees.
